New Music: The Colby’s ‘Skin’ EP

For Fans Of: Royal Blood | Foals | The Rubens

Emboldened by youth’s brazen attraction to energy and sensation, The Colby’s have set upon 2019 with an EP of reverent riffs and an unabashed love of rock’s stylistic dalliances. Lead single Telephone showcasing that amongst the rip and the roar the quartet aren’t afraid to reflect and relate.

Forming in 2015, the Melbourne band met through mutual friends and common aspirations. Influenced by the magic of the 70’s while also being inspired by the confluence of rock styles today, The Colby’s aim to create something new and special.

In the bands first six months since inception, they had already played many local gigs and wrote many songs, which resulted in an EP they recorded and released soon after. The EP, Chocolates and Flowers, earned the band great success amongst their peers in the local scene. After gigging for a solid year post the release of Chocolates and Flowers, the band entered a hiatus due to an irrepressible desire to travel and experience life. Late in 2017, the band (FKA Tempus) were forced to change their name. A year later the band reunited as The Colby’s and very quickly added to their catalogue of songs with cool confidence in their return as a maturing band.

Now 2019, a little wiser, a little hairier, the guys are ready with hearty single Telephone and aspire to make a serious impact on Australian music with their debut EP Skin. An immediate encapsulation of their selves, passionate and bonded, brooding and ballsy. Documented by Adrian Hannan at The SongStore Studios, Melbourne, who recorded, produced and mastered their candid arrival as The Colby’s.
